About Canyon Elementary
Canyon Charter School, located in the heart of
Santa
Monica Canyon, was granted one of the first Charters in the state of
California, in 1993. As an affiliated charter school within the Los
Angeles Unified School District, our status allows us more local
autonomy and flexibility in choosing curriculum, in staffing, and in
school governance.

We are a small school, with about 340 students in grades K-5. Canyon is
a high-achieving school, with an emphasis on academic excellence, and
ranks as one of the highest performing schools within LAUSD. We
recognize that learning best occurs when students actively participate
in the process of learning, and can engage in experimentation,
exploration, and discovery.
We are delighted to have you learn more about Canyon Charter Elementary

Mission Statement:
Canyon Charter School is committed to providing an environment in which
each child develops to his/her full potential and becomes a lifelong
learner. To that end, the curriculum emphasizes academic excellence,
high-level thinking, communication skills, personal growth, and
positive social values.
Canyon Charter School is a place where students learn to value the
past, embrace the present, and build for the future.
