What is DreamBox?
I am excited to announce that we have officially signed the contract with DreamBox Learning! Many of you have probably heard your child(ren) talk about this new and exciting computer program that we have been piloting for the past couple of months. DreamBox is an online math program that provides an adaptive, engaging learning environment that keeps kids interested and motivated for success.
Students can access DreamBox Learning away from school from any computer, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using this link: https://play.dreambox.com/login/laun/m3vu
DreamBox is an online program - there's no software to download! All you need is a high-speed Internet connection and Adobe Flash. Adobe Flash is free and is included with many Internet browsers.
To access DreamBox on iPad, go to http://www.dreambox.com/ipad, or search for "DreamBox Math" in the App Store.
When prompted in the app, use this School Code: laun/m3vu
Tips for home usage:
- Allow for 15 to 20 minute sessions throughout the week.
- Encourage completion of every lesson that is started. Mistakes are OK. Your child should not shy away from incorrect answers, as they help find the right lesson to build learning progress.
- We know it’s difficult, but please resist the urge to help with answers so that your child doesn’t move ahead before he or she is truly ready.
Your partnership is important. We know family involvement is vital to a student’s success in school, which is why we you now have access to the DreamBox Parent Dashboard. This Dashboard provides a detailed view of your child’s academic progress, and you can access information about your child’s account within the Dashboard. You can track progress, view reporting, and see how well your child is working in the lessons. You can find directions for setting up your free parent dashboard on our technology site at canyontech.weebly.com and click on the Dreambox Math link.
When accessing DreamBox at home, please let your child work at his/her level. Allow them to make mistakes, as one of the great features of the program is that it will adjust to meet individual student needs. If children get to a level beyond their ability level, it could lead to unnecessary frustration. Let them work through challenging problems using the tools of the program or the help prompts.
We hope that you will enjoy exploring DreamBox with your child(ren) and will appreciate the program features that make math real and relevant and help to develop skills to quickly close achievement gaps while providing a research-based, standards-aligned math curriculum.
Have fun exploring DreamBox!
