Nicole Currie – Dance Program
This will be my 2nd year teaching dance at Canyon Elementary School, and I am thrilled to be back as your dance teacher! From a very young age, I have been fascinated with movement. I started dancing at the age of three and gymnastics at the age of five. I continued studying dance and gymnastics intensively throughout my elementary, high school, and college years.
After receiving my B.A. from UC Berkeley, I moved east to attend NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and received my Masters of Fine Arts degree in dance. Following graduation from Tisch, I performed at the Lincoln Center with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet in Hector Berlioz’s comedic production of Benvenuto Cellini, with Kun-Yang Lin and Dancers, and other small modern dance companies.
Eventually, I moved back to my hometown of Los Angeles to teach kids the art of dance through the LAUSD Arts Branch! Prior to working with LAUSD, I taught full-time and was the dance director at Beverly Hills High School. Along with teaching dance, I am certified to teach yoga from Yoga Works, Pilates from STOTT Pilates, and I hold my California P.E. credential.
