Curriculum:
As a full-time elementary school dance teacher for LAUSD, we strive to teach excellence in dance that aligns with the state standards and the district's art curriculum. Here is a brief overview of our program:

The elementary dance program in LAUSD is a foundational program that provides standards-based instruction in dance in grades K through 6. The students are given the opportunity to experience dance as art in an educational setting, performing, creating, responding and connecting their dance learning to their own experiences. The instruction is based on the skills, knowledge and concepts outlined in the Elementary Art Instructional Guide in Dance.

This will be my 5th year teaching dance at Canyon Elementary School. I am thrilled to be back as your child's dance teacher! I love how creative this school is and how eager the kids aer to learn dance. They are truly a joy to teach.

About Nicole:
From a very young age, I have been passionate about movement and the arts. Dance, competitive gymnastics, and cheerleading kept me happily busy throughout my childhood.

While attending UC Berkeley for undergrad, I continued dancing and cheering for the Cal Golden Bears. During my last year of college, I was so fortunate to become a professional San Francisco 49ers cheerleader!

This love of dance eventually took me to NYC, where i received my MFA in Dance from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. After graduate school, I landed my dream job dancing at the Lincoln Center with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet.

Eventually, I moved back to my hometown of Los Angeles to teach kids the art of dance through the LAUSD Arts Branch. Prior to working for LAUSD, I taught dance full-time and was the dance director at Beverly Hills High School.

Along with teaching dance, I have my 500-hour yoga certification from Yoga Works, a full STOTT Pilates certification, and I hold my California P.E. Credential for grades K-12.
