The Chronicle

The Canyon Chronicle is the weekly school newsletter. It is the most up-to-date and comprehensive "window" on school activities. It contains stories about school events and classroom experiences, as well as announcements, features, requests, field trip reports, student stories, classifieds, a weekly calendar and a message from the principal.

Monday Bags

Canyon distributes both school-wide and classroom information on Mondays. Kindergartners bring this information home in brown paper bags, while the older children carry it in their backpacks. Monday Bag information includes a note from a child's teacher, a copy of The Chronicle and any announcements.

School Bulletin Boards

Ongoing concerns and communications are often posted on the school bulletin boards located on the wall at the main school entrance and in the breezeway after entering the gates. Information is also posted inside the East Channel gates. The bulletin boards display photos of recent events, minutes from Governing Board meetings, announcements, and plans considered for school-wide approval.

Canyon Google Group

The Canyon Charter Google group is an online discussion group of the stakeholders at Canyon Charter Elementary School. Parents, guardians, friends and staff are invited to share information and discuss topics relevent to the Canyon Charter community.

To participate in the group, you must become a member. Visit the group on the web at http://groups.google.com/group/canyoncharter. You will be asked to sign in as a Google member. If you are not already registered with Google, you can easily register your email and create a password. Once you are signed in, to join the group you will see a box asking "How are you related to the Canyon Charter community?" You must fill in this box to be approved by the group managers for membership.

There are various options for how to receive emails from the group. You can receive no emails, each email as it comes, or a digest form where you receive all the discussion for that day in one email. However, if you are receiving the digest form, you cannot respond by hitting "reply." You will have to type in the email address of the group, canyoncharter@googlegroups.com.
