Room 17!

Class Notes

In Language Arts, we will continue in our Unit “Let’s Create” with the story “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type.” The vocabulary words are taken straight from the story and the spelling words are a study of the r-controlled vowel or, oar, and ore, along with 2 review words and 3 second grade sight words. This week in Math, we will continue in Module 3 “Place Value, Counting, and comparison of Numbers to 1,000.”

The annual Toy Drive begins on Monday, December 5th (today) and runs through Friday, December 16th. Please consider making a donation of new toys to this important cause. Canyon students are so fortunate and it is an invaluable lesson to teach your children that not all are so lucky! Please drop off all donations to the library or main office. Thank you for your support! School wide Committee Meetings will be held on Thursday, December 8th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. in their respective meeting locations. (If you would like to join the Technology Committee, we meet in the Science Lab!) The Winter Holiday Show will be held on Thursday, December 15th. There will be two showings: 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the auditorium. Parents with students in grades K-2 have been asked to attend the 8:30 a.m. showing. Parents with students in grades 3-5 have been asked to attend the 10:30 showing. Please see the attached for student dress code for that day. The last Governing Council meeting of this physical year, will be held in Room 9 at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17th. Lastly, Room 17’s Ancestor Feast will be held in Room 17 from 11:30-12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16th. Students will need to bring their prepared ancestor recipe on that day. Please note, the feast will end at 12:30 p.m. but all students MUST stay until the bell rings and they are dismissed at 12:45 p.m. Winter Recess will begin on Monday, December 19th. The first day back at school will be Monday, January 9th!

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to send a note with your son or daughter or contact me via the main office. I hope everyone has an enjoyable holiday!
