I am truly happy to go into my fourth year teaching science at Canyon! I couldn’t ask to be at a more wonderful school, with such a fantastic community, teaching a subject I am passionate about. I am also excited because for the first time at Canyon the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms will have access to laptops which we are going to use to do many fun science activities.

As a child I went to Montessori Academy until I was an early teenager. I have an undergraduate degree is in Computer Science and Photojournalism and I obtained my teaching credential from CSU San Bernardino in 2004. In 2010 I obtained a Masters degree in Educational Technology from San Diego State University.

My life in the professional workforce started as an IT guy for the Moreno Valley USD. After that, I had a brief stint in the east coast working as a photographer/writer. A few years later I came back to California to obtain a teaching credential. I spent the first two years of my teaching career in Fontana USD then moved to Venice to teach at Westminster Elementary Computer Science Magnet for two more years before coming to Canyon Charter.

I believe students should use their own natural curiosity to explore and discover ideas and concepts while the teacher facilitates the process and provides them with the collaborative environment they need in order to develop as a whole person. By teaching science to students, I am encouraging them to ask questions about the world around them and to use investigations to come to their own conclusions about how and why things are the way they are.
