Local School Leadership Council Nominations Are Open Through September 8

The Local School Leadership Council is accepting nominations for the 2026-2027 school year. One voting seat and two alternate seats are open, and nominations close on Tuesday, September 8.

The Council is Canyon's governing body. It meets monthly, usually on the third or fourth Thursday at 2:00 p.m., either in person or by Zoom. Decisions on budget, equipment, scheduling, discipline and staff development are made in these meetings, and parent representatives carry real weight in those discussions.

To nominate yourself or another interested person, send a photograph and a short biography of no more than 300 words to Nicole Sheard at nicole.sheard@lausd.net. Please include your background, your family and your reasons for wanting to serve. The new member will join David Mehlman and Sarah Jonovic, who are entering their second year on the Council. Ballots and candidate biographies go out on September 9, voting closes September 23, and results are announced at the September 24 meeting.
