Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)
The Local Control and Accountability Plan sets out the goals a school has for its students, the actions planned to reach them, and how funds are used to support that work. Two plans apply at Canyon.

Canyon is an LAUSD-affiliated charter school and operates under California Education Code § 47606.5 and § 52060 et seq. Printed copies of either plan are available on request from the main office at 310.454.7510.
Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) Plan
The ELO-P plan describes how Canyon provides before-school, after-school and intersession programming that supports students academically, socially and physically. State law requires the plan to be approved by the governing board in a public meeting and posted on the school website.

Approved Charter Petition
Canyon Charter Elementary operates under a charter petition approved by the LAUSD Board of Education. The current approved petition is available through the District’s Charter Schools Division.
Governance Council — Agendas, Minutes & Bylaws
Canyon’s Governance Council operates in compliance with the Ralph M. Brown Act (Gov. Code § 54950 et seq.). Meeting agendas are posted at least 72 hours before each regular meeting.
Title IX — Nondiscrimination Based on Sex
Canyon Charter Elementary complies with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and California Education Code § 221.61. The District’s full Title IX policy, complaint process, and complaint forms are available from the LAUSD Office of Student Civil Rights. Anti-Discrimination, Anti-Harassment, Anti-Bullying & Anti-Cyberbullying Policies
In accordance with California Education Code § 234.6, Canyon Charter Elementary makes the following policies and resources readily accessible. Canyon adheres to the LAUSD Board-adopted policies on bullying, cyberbullying, social-media bullying, sexual harassment, hate-motivated behavior, and discrimination based on protected characteristics.

Reporting a Concern
Concerns about bullying, harassment, discrimination, or intimidation should be reported to the school administrator or to one of Canyon’s designated Title IX/Bullying Complaint Managers. Pupil Suicide Prevention Policy
In accordance with California Education Code § 215 (as extended to elementary grades by AB 1767, 2019) and § 234.6, Canyon Charter Elementary adheres to LAUSD’s adopted Suicide Prevention, Intervention, and Postvention Policy (LAUSD Bulletin 2637.5).
If a student is in immediate crisis, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911. During school hours, parents/caregivers can also contact the school office at (310) 454-7510 to speak with the principal or school counselor.
Access to Mental Health Services
In accordance with California Education Code § 49428, Canyon Charter Elementary notifies pupils and parents/guardians of available mental health services at school and in the community.

Uniform Complaint Procedures (UCP)
Canyon Charter Elementary follows LAUSD’s Uniform Complaint Procedures for complaints alleging unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation, bullying, or violations of state and federal education programs.

Canyon Charter Elementary complies with the LAUSD Board of Education’s Charter Transparency (Ratliff) Resolution, providing parents with annual notification of charter school operations, policies, and rights.

LAUSD's We Are One campaign provides resources to help families prepare for and understand their rights around immigration-related emergencies. Canyon encourages every family to review these resources, whether or not you expect to need them.
