Parker-Anderson Enrichment

Parker-Anderson Enrichment brings hands-on after-school classes to the Canyon campus, from coding and chemistry to hip hop, chess and cooking. Session 2 runs from November to January with nine classes on Tuesday through Friday afternoons, open to TK through 5th grade.

How to Enroll

Parker-Anderson runs enrollment and payment directly, so you sign up on their website rather than through Canyon.

  1. Create your parent accountGo to parker-anderson.org and choose Enroll Now. Enter your details, then add each child you want to enroll. If you already have an account from an earlier session, sign in here.
  2. Pick Canyon Charter Elementary and your classesChoose the classes that fit your child's grade and your family's afternoons. Each class meets once a week for seven weeks.
  3. Pay online by cardAll enrollments are completed online. Cash and checks are not accepted. Lab fees, where a class has one, are added at checkout.
  4. Finish by Thursday, November 5Each class needs a minimum number of students by the deadline to run. If a class does not reach it, Parker-Anderson cancels it, so please sign up early.

TechKids: Coding

2:00–3:00 p.m.Grades TK–5

Students create their own animations, programs and games using platforms such as MIT's Scratch, Code.org and RodoCodo. Through computer programming, they build math and logic skills in a fun learning environment.

Animal Invasion

2:00–3:00 p.m.Grades TK–5

A class for every animal lover. Students meet and interact with amazing creatures, including reptiles, amphibians, mammals, birds and insects, with games, activities and plenty of chances to learn about each one.

Hip Hop Dance

3:00–4:00 p.m.Grades TK–5

Dancers move freely in a fun, safe setting while learning to control and coordinate their bodies. They pick up hip hop steps and even a few tricks as they rehearse choreography for a final performance.

Jr. Robot Building Workshop

3:00–4:00 p.m.Grades TK–5

Junior engineers explore simple mechanics, movement and design using a variety of materials. Each student builds and customizes two robots of their own to take home at the end of the course.

Chem Kids

2:00–3:00 p.m.Grades TK–5

Young scientists run physical and chemical experiments and learn what makes them work. They investigate acids and bases, polymers and static electricity, with favorites like Elephant Toothpaste, insta-snow and Mentos-and-Coke explosions.

Chess Club, TK to 2nd Grade

2:00–3:00 p.m.Grades TK–2

Chess is introduced in a fun and exciting way for players of every level. Instructors teach the game while building problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills that carry into the classroom. Includes exclusive booklets and worksheets.

Chess Club, 3rd to 5th Grade

The same Chess Club for older players, in its own later hour. Students sharpen strategy, problem-solving and critical thinking with exclusive booklets and worksheets.

Art Adventures

Students make clay geckos, 3D collage robots and paper roll characters while learning about artists including Georgia O'Keeffe, Henri Matisse and Eric Joyner.

Kids Cooking Academy

3:00–4:00 p.m.Grades TK–5

Each week students try a different recipe, from appetizers and desserts to lunch-style entrées, and learn about nutrition and dining etiquette along the way. Recipes vary based on the facilities available on campus.

$136 plus $35 lab fee

Good to Know

  • The deadline is Thursday, November 5. Classes that do not reach their minimum enrollment by then are cancelled.
  • Enrollment is online only. Parker-Anderson does not accept cash or checks.
  • Each class meets seven times. Holiday weeks are skipped, and the dates above already account for them.
  • Classes meet on campus. Please check with the school office to find out where each class meets.
